MADRID, Spain — Real Madrid will be without midfielder Mesut Oezil and several other players for the Spanish league game at Athletic Bilbao.

The German playmaker was left out of Madrid’s squad for Sunday’s match because of an ankle sprain.

Madrid will also be missing defender Alvaro Arbeloa, midfielder Michael Essien, and back-up playmaker Kaka, who are all out because of injury.

Madrid trails Barcelona by 13 points and is focusing on its Champions League campaign. The team plays Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the semifinals on April 24.
