Cavalry FC has signed Peruvian forward Jair Córdova to the roster for the 2020 season.
Twenty-three-year old Jair Córdova will call ATCO Field home as he joins the Cavalry on a multi-year contract beginning with the 2020 Canadian Premier League season. Prior to coming to Cavalry FC Córdova played with Club Juan Aurich S.A, where the strong forward had 10 goals in 18 matches in the 2019 season.
A left-footed forward, Córdova is a two-time top scorer in Peru’s second division, leading to his recent move to division 1 club CSD Alianza.
Cavalry FC activated his release clause to bring him to Canada and would like to thank CSD Alianza for their cooperation and professionalism on this.
Tommy Wheeldon Jr. had this to say about Jair Córdova:
“Córdova is a talent that we could not pass up on. His proven goal scoring record speaks for itself and at 23 years old he still has a lot more to develop. We like the way he plays the game with his clever touches, movement and attacking instincts and feel he will be a great addition to our 2020 squad. I’m positive he will be a great teammate and excite our fans.”
“It means a lot because it is an ambitious club that always plays to win in every game. I want to win things with this team,” said Córdova.
Córdova is expected to arrive in Calgary March 2020 to begin training pending the expected approval of appropriate visas/work perm
