PARIS — Paris Saint-Germain has extended coach Laurent Blanc’s contract to June 2016, a day after he guided the club to a fourth French league title.

Blanc was not even the club’s first choice to succeed Carlo Ancelotti last summer, but he has outdone his predecessor by leading PSG to a league and League Cup double.

PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi says "we are very happy with the outstanding season achieved by our team and with the elegant and successful style of play introduced by Laurent Blanc. He added that "renewing our confidence in him was legitimate and self-evident. We are convinced that our team under his guidance will win many trophies in the next seasons."

PSG clinched the French league title on Wednesday despite losing 2-1 to Rennes.
