SAINT-DENIS, France — Guillaume Hoarau scored in extra time Saturday to give Paris Saint-Germain a 1-0 win over Monaco in the French Cup final.
Hoarau pounced on a rebound in the 105th minute after Claude Makelele played Christophe Jallet in and the PSG defender fired a powerful strike that was stopped by Monaco goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier.
PSG dominated the final but wasted a number of chances before finally sealing its eighth French Cup title.
The Parisian club nearly scored the winning goal in the 82nd, when Turkish forward Mevlut Erding beat the offside trap but had his lob bounce off the bar.
Both teams are in the middle of the table in the French league, and PSG salvaged a lacklustre season by lifting a trophy and securing a European spot.
