WASHINGTON — Christian Gomez is returning to D.C. United.
Gomez, the 2006 MLS MVP, and goalie Mike Graczyk were traded to D.C. United by Colorado on Monday in a deal that sent midfielder/defender Ivan Guerrero to the Rapids.
"(Gomez) brings unique qualities to our team and he understands the culture of our club. We believe he makes us better able to again compete for the MLS Cup," United president Kevin Payne said.
Gomez originally joined D.C. United in August 2004, and he led the team with 14 goals and 11 assists in 2006.
He had three goals and six assists in 20 games with the Rapids last season.
