MADRID — Real Madrid great Alfredo Di Stefano will have a street named after him in Madrid.

The Spanish capital announced on Thursday that the street is in the neighbourhood of Valdefuentes, near the team’s training camp in the northern part of the city.

Di Stefano, who died in 2014 at age 88, is touted by Real Madrid as "the best footballer of all time."

The striker played for the club from 1953-64, winning five straight European Cups, and eight Spanish leagues.

The Argentina-born Di Stefano scored 308 goals with the Spanish powerhouse.

One of Madrid’s main stadiums at its training camp is named after Di Stefano.
