KUWAIT CITY — Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria scored Wednesday to lead Spanish champion Real Madrid to a 2-0 win against Kuwait in a friendly on its first visit to the Gulf nation.
Madrid finished its season after winning a record 32nd league title by taking on Kuwait, which is ranked 86th in the world by FIFA.
Maria opened the scoring for Madrid in the 26th minute after receiving a pass from Mesut Ozil. Ronaldo, who led his team with 46 goals this season, doubled the lead five minutes later when he headed into the net from close range.
Kuwait threatened several times in the second half but couldn’t beat goalkeeper Iker Casillas.
