MADRID, Spain — Cristiano Ronaldo could miss Real Madrid’s Champions League last-16 return-leg match against Lyon after being ruled out for up to two weeks because of a leg injury.
Ronaldo injured a muscle in his left leg after scoring his third goal in Thursday’s 7-0 win over Malaga.
Madrid says medical scans Friday ruled the Portugal forward out for 10 to 15 days.
Madrid holds the away-goal advantage ahead of the March 16 second leg after drawing 1-1 at Lyon. Madrid hasn’t reached the quarter-finals of Europe’s top-tier competition since the 2004-05 season.
Ronaldo will miss Spanish league matches against Racing Santander and Hercules as a result of the setback.
Madrid trails Spanish leader Barcelona by seven points.
