MADRID — Real Madrid says defender Sergio Ramos will sign a new contract that will keep him at the club for the next five seasons.

Madrid has announced that Ramos and club president Florentino Perez will speak to the media about his renewal later Monday.

The 29-year-old Ramos had been linked to interest from Manchester United.

Ramos has helped Madrid win one Champions League trophy and three Spanish league titles. He also formed part of Spain’s 2010 World Cup-winning team.
