BIRMINGHAM, England — Aston Villa says it has suspended striker Gabriel Agbonlahor following reports about his behaviour after the Premier League club was relegated.

The 29-year-old forward was pictured in The Sun newspaper with what look like nitrous oxide – or laughing gas – canisters at a London hotel. The incident reportedly occurred on the same night that Aston Villa was relegated after losing to Manchester United on Saturday.

Agbonlahor did not play at Old Trafford because the club said he was not in shape. Last week, he was put on a personal fitness program.

Aston Villa says it has “suspended Gabby Agbonlahor pending an internal investigation. This is following allegations concerning his conduct at the weekend.”
