Wayne Rooney could very well be coming to Major League Soccer.

The Washington Post is reporting that the English star is in “serious talks” about joining D.C. United during this summer’s transfer and trade window, which opens on July 10.

The report continues to state that D.C. has a 50 per cent chance of signing the Everton forward, who has grown frustrated with his Premier League club.

Rooney, one of the most recognizable soccer players on the planet, has scored 208 goals in 491 career Premier League contests, played with Everton and Manchester United. He has 10 goals this season, which leads the Toffees, but has not scored since December.

The 32-year-old has also made 119 appearances with the English national team and has scored 53 goals, both of which are all-time marks.

D.C. United made reported attempts to lure Rooney last season, which were unsuccessful. The team is currently tied for last in MLS with a 1-2-4 record. D.C.’s eight goals scored are the second-lowest only to Seattle’s five.
