Everton manager Marco Silva has been relieved of his duties, the club announced on Thursday.

The decision comes less than 24 hours after Everton’s 5-2 loss to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby at Anfield, their third Premier League defeat in a row.

Everton only amassed two league victories in its last nine games and is currently in the relegation zone, one point adrift of safety.

The Toffees have a difficult run of fixtures coming up. They face Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal in their next three league games. Everton also has Leicester City in the League Cup quarterfinals on Dec. 18.
