SOUTHAMPTON, England — Southampton says it has signed Algeria midfielder Saphir Taider on a season-long loan from Inter Milan, with striker Pablo Osvaldo moving to the Milan club on the same terms.

Both clubs have the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the 2014-15 season.

Taider, 22, played twice for Algeria at the 2014 World Cup, and Southampton manager Ronald Koeman says “it’s part of our philosophy for the club to bring in talented young players who like to learn and develop themselves.”

Osvaldo fell out of favour at Southampton in the 2013-14 season after a training ground clash with teammate Jose Fonte left the defender with a broken nose. He was loaned to Juventus in January for the rest of last season.
