GLASGOW, Scotland — Celtic went top of the Scottish Premier League with a 3-0 win over Falkirk on Saturday.
Stephen McManus scored the opener in the 31st minute and Georgios Samaras added a second in the 44th.
Greece striker Samaras put the result beyond doubt when he made it 3-0 in the 68th.
Celtic and Rangers both have seven points but Celtic has a better goal difference. Rangers only drew 1-1 with Aberdeen after its injury-time goal from DaMarcus Beasley was disallowed for offside.
Rangers took the lead in the 24th when David Weir headed in Kevin Thompson’s free kick, but Aberdeen equalized in first-half stoppage time through Derek Young, who drilled a shot from the middle of the area.
Aberdeen had a chance to take the lead in the 76th, but Darren Mackie’s shot was blocked at close range by Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor. Beasley was ruled offside in injury time after the United States forward’s powerful shot beat Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield at his near post.
Hamilton lost 1-0 at Kilmarnock after a header in first-half stoppage time by Manuel Pascali. Hamilton dropped from first to fourth place and Kilmarnock moved to third.
Hearts moved fifth after a 2-1 win over St. Mirren at Tynecastle. St. Mirren’s Tonet Gilerao was sent off after 26 minutes and the 10 men went a goal behind when Jamie Mole puts Hearts in front seconds before the interval.
Billy Mehmet struck an equalizer in the 69th, but Michael Stewart restored the Edinburgh side’s lead with a penalty kick four minutes later.
Hibernian rallied to draw 1-1 at Inverness. Don Cowie put the highland side in front in the 21st, but the visitors equalized a minute after the restart through Colin Nish.
Motherwell drew 1-1 with Dundee United. John Sutton scored in the 34th for Motherwell but Lee Wilkie equalized for United in the 40th.
