PRAGUE, Czech Republic — Czech Republic defender Theodor Gebre Selassie has agreed to move from Czech champion Liberec to Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.
Gebre Selassie’s agent Viktor Kolar announced the transfer on Friday, a day after the Czech Republic was knocked out from the European Championship in Poland and Ukraine after a 1-0 loss to Portugal in the quarterfinals.
Both clubs have approved the move and Werder will sign Gebre Selassie to a 4-year contract after he undergoes a medical in Germany.
The 25-year-old has been a regular starter since he joined the national team last year for a 0-0 draw against Peru in a friendly.
He helped the Czechs qualify for the Euros and was one of their best players at the tournament.
