Fan Poll: Is AVB right for Tottenham?

Andre Villas-Boas is wasting little time in making himself feel at home as Tottenham’s new manager.

Hired to the position last week, the 34-year-old Portuguese recently said he grew as a coach during his brief spell in charge of Chelsea and that he was looking forward to the challenge of managing Spurs.

“It (Chelsea) was an experience that made me a better coach now,” Villas-Boas said. “I think as you go past different clubs and experiences you always get something out of them, it moulds you into the professional you are now.

“I think my career has been steadily going up and I see this (joining Tottenham) as a step forward. The club (Tottenham) is very solid in the way they support the first team, there is much more emotional warmth in this club, and this is important.”

AVB achieved great success with FC Porto but at Chelsea he struggled, as the Blues stumbled under his stewardship, and was eventually replaced by Roberto di Matteo — who went on to lead the London club to victory in the Champions league final.

It raises the question: did Tottenham hire the right man in Villas-Boas to replace Harry Redknapp?

Was Villas-Boas the right option for Spurs? Should the club have hired someone else? Can the Portuguese manager fix his somewhat tarnished reputation at Tottenham?
