Stoke sign Jones for club-record fee

Stoke has signed Trinidad and Tobago striker Kenwyne Jones from Premier League rival Sunderland for a club-record eight million pounds (C$13.1 million).

The 25-year-old Jones signed a four-year contract.

The most Stoke had previously paid for a player was the six million pounds (C$9.8 million) it spent on defender Robert Huth a year ago.

Jones played on loan for Stoke in 2005 and was linked with teams including Liverpool and Tottenham before a knee ligament injury in June 2008 kept him out for five months and contributed to a loss of form.

But Stoke manager Tony Pulis says "Kenwyne is unplayable on his day."
