Sitting atop the MLS standings with 43 points, boasting the largest goal difference in the league and coming off a big 4-0 win over New York City FC on Sunday, everything seems to coming up Toronto FC these days.

However, with the Aug. 9 transfer window deadline fast approaching, will the team look to add even more to what already is a formidable roster?

According to TFC general manager Tim Bezbatchenko, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

“We like our locker room,” Bezbatchenko told Sportsnet 590 the FAN’s Starting Lineup on Monday. “There’s nothing that I would say [from] the key part of our roster that we’re really looking to change. It doesn’t mean that I’m not looking to improve the talent on the roster but when you have a team that has the ability to get to the MLS Cup – and frankly, in the MLS Cup we felt like we had the level and we played the type of game where we could’ve come away with the victory – you don’t want to change a whole lot.”

Bezbatchenko’s comfort level with his roster makes sense given how strong TFC has been this season. However, last season the club was in a fairly strong position at this same time, yet it still decided to make a couple moves. So what’s changed?

“Last year we were able to pick up Armando Cooper and Tosaint Ricketts in the summer window and they really helped lift us to a new level as we approached the playoffs,” Bezbatchenko said. “This year I think we’re a little bit different. Our guys have the experiences and sort of know-how of MLS down the stretch, so really not focusing on any area of the roster.

“I am taking calls and messages from a lot of general managers who are in different positions so you never know, but until Aug. 9 we will be talking and seeing if there’s something that makes sense.”

From his tone, standing pat appears to be the best course of action at the moment.
