Toronto FC searches for their first win of the MLS season when they host Real Salt Lake on Friday as -205 favourites on the MLS odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
The Reds have been idle since their 1-0 loss to Montreal as +140 road favourites on March 17, and have been held goalless in a pair of defeats in league action going into Friday night’s matchup at BMO Field.
TFC’s slow start comes on the heels of their record-setting run to MLS Cup last season, but they continue to maintain their perch atop the 2018 MLS Cup odds at a slightly reduced price of +450.
While the Reds have struggled in league action, they continue to impress in CONCACAF Champions League. TFC silenced the naysayers with a quarter-final win over reigning Liga MX Apertura champions Tigres UANL, and open a two-leg semi-final clash with Club America in Toronto on Tuesday as +125 chalk.
The Claret and Cobalt travel to Toronto on Friday pegged as lengthy +575 underdogs after posting consecutive wins in league action for the first time since September. Real Salt Lake went winless in its first two outings of the season before rebounding with a narrow 1-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls as +125 home chalk two weeks ago, but RSL is a meagre 0-2-3 in its last five road contests.
RSL also dropped a 1-0 decision to the Reds in their last visit to BMO Field in Aug. 2016, but are a solid 4-1-1 in their past six dates with Toronto, holding TFC to just two total goals over their last five meetings.
MLS action continues on Saturday with the Vancouver Whitecaps traveling to Columbus as they try to end a two-match winless streak as +370 underdogs, while the Montreal Impact try to extend Seattle’s early-season woes when they take on the Sounders as +400 underdogs.
The Whitecaps have struggled since opening the season with a pair of wins, falling 4-1 in Atlanta as +450 underdogs on March 17 before settling for a goalless draw with the Los Angeles Galaxy as -167 home chalk last weekend.
Vancouver has been defeated in four of its last five road contests, but owns a 4-2-0 record in six meetings with the Crew, including three straight away wins. However, the Whitecaps face a Columbus squad that is undefeated in four league matches and sits as a -145 favourite on Saturday.
Montreal’s recent win over TFC put the brakes on a seven-match losing streak. The Impact take a five-match road losing streak into Seattle, but face a Sounders side that is pegged as -155 chalk despite getting outscored by a 7-1 margin in a 1-0-3 run across all competitions.
