Toronto FC signed midfielder Alan Mariano Mino to a first-team contract Friday and acquired defender Mitchell Taintor on loan from Sacramento Republic FC of the United Soccer League.
The 24-year-old Mino, who has made one appearance for Toronto FC II this season, has previously played for Sud America in the Uruguayan first division and Boca Unidos in Argentina’s second division.
Taintor, 23, has made five starts for Sacramento this season. He appeared in 47 games with TFC II in 2016 and 2017.
Taintor will be added to the roster pending receipt of his international transfer certificate.
Toronto FC is expected to use several reserves for Saturday’s MLS game at Houston.
The team’s primary focus is the CONCACAF Champions League final against Chivas Guadalajara.
Chivas posted a 2-1 win in the first leg last Tuesday at BMO Field. The second leg is set for Wednesday in Guadalajara.
