Star Tottenham striker Harry Kane has damaged lateral ligaments in his right ankle and is expected to be back training next month, the club announced Wednesday.
Kane was forced to leave Spurs’ 4-1 victory over Bournemouth after just 30 minutes when it appeared he scored a goal but was disallowed on an offside ruling. He was injured when keeper Asmir Begović came out in attempt to desperately block Kane’s shot and ended up crashing into the Englishman’s plant foot. Kane limped off the field.
The 24-year-old has a share of the Premier League goal-scoring lead with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah with 24 markers in 29 appearances in league play this season.
The timeline of his injury isn’t very fortuitous for Tottenham as it tries to stay ahead of fourth-place Liverpool and keep pace with Manchester United for second on the table, but he should be fully fit in time for England’s start of the World Cup in June.
