PARIS — The president of Guingamp says Dynamo Kyiv supporters wanted "to kill" the fans of the French club who travelled to Ukraine for a Europa League match.
Crowd trouble marred Thursday’s match, with the game interrupted for eight minutes following a pitch invasion by Dynamo fans who then attacked visiting supporters.
Guingamp fans, who have been accused of having a provocative banner, quickly left their seats as fights broke out.
Guingamp president Bertrand Desplat told France Info radio that he "saw a wolf-pack of people thirsty for blood. They wanted to fight and, I think, to kill our supporters."
Desplat also accused Dynamo officials of provoking aggression with nationalist propaganda and questioned UEFA’s decision to keep organizing matches in the war-torn country.
