NYON, Switzerland — UEFA has fined Liverpool and Manchester United 20,000 euros ($22,300) each for offensive chants by fans at their Europa League round of 16 matches.
UEFA says it suspended further fines of 20,000 euros ($22,300) for each club for a two-year probation period.
UEFA’s disciplinary panel also judged a range of charges including crowd disorder and throwing objects.
Liverpool was fined an additional 17,000 euros ($19,000) and ordered "to contact Manchester United FC within 30 days for the settlement of the damages caused by its supporters," UEFA says.
United must pay a further 18,000 euros ($20,100) in fines.
Liverpool won 3-1 on aggregate.
Liverpool faces more UEFA sanctions in July for fans fighting with Sevilla supporters in the stadium before the final in Basel last week.
