Vidal extends contract with Juventus until 2017

TURIN, Italy — Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal has extended his contract with Juventus by one season until 2017.

The Turin club made the announcement Tuesday on its website.

Vidal joined Juventus in 2011 from Bayer Leverkusen on a five-year contract.

The new deal will reportedly pay Vidal 4 million euros ($5.4 million) per year starting next season, plus bonuses.

The 26-year-old Vidal has become a fixture in Juve’s lineup and scored a hat trick in a 3-1 win over FC Copenhagen in the Champions League last week.

Vidal helped Juve to the Serie A title the past two seasons.
