Juventus’ Vucinic to miss 3 weeks

TURIN, Italy — Serie A leader Juventus has lost striker Mirko Vucinic for about three weeks because of a right thigh muscle tear.

Vucinic was injured during Juve’s 2-0 win over Cesena on Sunday. The Montenegro international underwent medical exams Tuesday.

He’ll miss an Italian Cup match against Bologna on Tuesday and Serie A games with Roma and Novara — and possibly won’t return until January, after the Italian league’s holiday break.

Meanwhile, Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero says he’s ready to play again after getting eight stitches for a cut to his left temple.

In the 56th minute of the Cesena match, Vucinic was replaced by Del Piero, who then had to be substituted with Emanuele Giaccherini.
