Watch: New FIFA 16 ad is all kinds of awesome

Lionel Messi in FIFA 16 from EA Sports (EA SPORTS FIFA/Youtube)

What do Lionel Messi, Kobe Bryant, a Japanese game show and opera have in common?

EA Sports FIFA. Obviously.

The world’s most popular sports video game franchise returns on Sept. 22 with FIFA 16 and in advance of the game’s release, EA Sports has put out one hell of a commercial.

Where to begin?

First off we see Barcelona superstar Messi play a little “anything you can do I can do better” with Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero.

Next, we see Team USA’s Alex Morgan slide tackling some big hairy guy, because she’s a boss.

Then there’s a clip of a kid showing off some insane dribbling skills – that includes a backflip tucked between his knees – on a crazy-looking Japanese game show.

After that, Bryant makes an appearance on a basketball court and straight-up punts a ball from almost full-court straight in – he’s pretty happy about it, too.

Lastly, a soccer commentator goes toe-to-toe with a real opera singer decked in Viking gear and they both break the glass of the booth they’re standing in.

In other words, you should really do yourself a favour and watch this commercial as it’s guaranteed to make your day better, especially if you enjoyed EA Sports’ previous advertisement work with Madden 16.

FIFA 16 will be available for for Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, Android and iOS.
