BERLIN — Werder Bremen slumped to a 1-0 home loss to Cologne on Friday, piling the pressure on coach Robin Dutt as the club remains rooted to the bottom of the Bundesliga.

Anthony Ujah’s 59th-minute strike was enough for promoted Cologne to climb provisionally ninth, while Bremen remains on four points after failing to win any of its opening nine games.

Ujah scored one minute after coming on as a substitute with a straightforward shot through Bremen keeper Raphael Wolf’s legs from Dusan Svento’s cross.

Izet Hajrovic came closest for Bremen minutes later, when he hit the post. The home side, visually drained of confidence after its earlier efforts, looked incapable of claiming an equalizer after that.

Bremen fans cheered their team throughout the game but whistled the players after the full-time whistle.
