VANCOUVER, B.C. – Defender Victor Giro was acquired by the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday, sending a natural third round pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft to Orlando City SC in return.

Giro was acquired by the Lions in January 2017. Over two seasons in Orlando, the Brazilian made 16 appearances, totalling 854 minutes.

The 2019 MLS SuperDraft will be held on Jan. 11 in Chicago.

Expansion side FC Cincinnati will have the first overall selection. Orlando City SC currently holds the third overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, along with the 27th and 59th overall picks.

Whitecaps send Mezquida to Colorado

Goalkeeper Zac MacMath was acquired by the Whitecaps in a trade with Colorado Rapids for midfielder Nicolas Mezquida and US$100,000 of targeted allocation money.

MacMath joins the Whitecaps after four seasons with the Colorado Rapids and four seasons with the Philadelphia Union.

During his time in Colorado, MacMath earned 10 clean sheets in 41 appearances across all competitions. Notably, MacMath was named Colorado’s most valuable player with Tim Howard in 2016, when he posted a 9-3-5 regular-season record.

Over eight seasons in MLS, MacMath has earned 39 clean sheets in 152 appearances across MLS play, the U.S. Open Cup, and the CONCACAF Champions League.

Whitecaps land Crepeau from Impact

Crepeau started three career MLS games and four Canadian Championship games with the Impact in 2017.

He had joined the first team in 2013, following three years with the Academy. He spent the last season on loan with Ottawa Fury FC, in the USL.
