VANCOUVER – The Vancouver Whitecaps have signed centre back Brendan McDonough to an Major League Soccer contract for 2019 with options through 2022.
The former Georgetown University defender was selected in the second round, 35th overall, of the 2019 MLS SuperDraft last January.
He made 56 starts in 63 appearances with Georgetown, collecting two goals and two assists while serving as captain in the last two seasons.
"We’re pleased with the progress of Brendan," Whitecaps FC head coach Marc Dos Santos said in a release. "He’s shown well during preseason and while training with us. We’ll continue to work with him, he will also be involved with the development squad, and we’ll evaluate his progression over the coming months."
