VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Whitecaps waived defenders Mouloud Akloul and Blake Wagner on Thursday.

Akloul, 28, a native of Lorient, France, registered 626 minutes in eight Major League Soccer appearances for the Whitecaps.

The 23-year-old Wagner, from Tampa, Fla., made nine starts and saw 778 minutes of action.

Both players joined the Whitecaps for the 2010 USSF D-2 season.

The Whitecaps also announced they will play Real Salt Lake on Oct. 6.

The game had originally been scheduled for July 16 but was postponed after heavy rain made the temporary grass pitch at Empire Field unplayable.

Vancouver is last in the MLS Western Conference with a 2-10-9 record. The Whitecaps face the conference leading L.A. Galaxy (11-2-9) on Saturday at Empire Field
