WOLFSBURG, Germany — Wolfsburg says attacking midfielder Julian Draxler will be sidelined for several weeks after tearing left-thigh muscles in the 3-0 loss to Real Madrid.

The defeat eliminated Wolfsburg from the Champions League.

There are five matches remaining in the Bundesliga and Wolfsburg is six points away from a place in the Europa League next season. Draxler had scored four goals in the last eight league matches.

The injury could also threaten Draxler’s trip to the June 10-July 10 European Championship in France. Germany coach Joachim Loew is naming his preliminary squad on May 15.
