WOLFSBURG, Germany — Relegation-threatened Bundesliga club Wolfsburg has parted ways with general manager Klaus Allofs in a bid to kick-start its troubled season.

Supervisory board chairman Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz says it was decided "to make a new start in view of the currently difficult sporting situation."

Only goal difference separates Wolfsburg from Hamburger SV in the relegation playoff place with only two wins to show from 14 games.

Saturday’s 5-0 loss at Bayern Munich was the last match for Allofs, who joined the club on Nov. 12, 2012, after years in charge at league rival Werder Bremen.
