If Brazil can come back against Germany in the second half, they’ll rocket to the top of this list of the most epic single-game comebacks of all time.
1. THE BUFFALO BILLS overcame a 35–3 score to defeat the Houston Oilers 41–38 in overtime during the 1992 AFC wild card game.
2. LIVERPOOL, down three goals to AC Milan, tied the game in the span of six minutes and won on penalties to capture the 2005 Champions League title.
3. THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS, defending Super Bowl champs, led the Indianapolis Colts 35–14 with less than five minutes to play in a 2003 regular-season game—until Peyton Manning threw three TDs to tie the game and send it to overtime. The Colts completed the comeback, winning 38–35.
4. With 10:42 to play, the BOSTON BRUINS were losing 4-1 to the Toronto Maple Leafs in game seven of their 2013 Eastern Conference quarterfinal. That’s when the script flipped. The Bruins scored three goals before the end of the period and the winner 6:05 into overtime, becoming the first playo team ever to win after being down three goals in the final frame.
5. It was dubbed the Miracle on Manchester. On April 10, 1982, at the second intermission of game three in a best-of-five first-round series, the L.A. KINGS were down 5–0 to the Edmonton Oilers. They stormed back with unlikely hero Steve Bozek scoring the tying goal with five seconds left to play. The Kings won in OT and eliminated the Oilers in game five.
6. In an Aug. 5, 2001, matchup, the CLEVELAND INDIANS were losing 12–0 to the Seattle Mariners. By the end of the ninth, the game was tied. After 11 innings, the Indians emerged the victors. Their comeback tied the 1911 Detroit Tigers and the 1925 Philadelphia Athletics as the greatest in baseball history.
