JOHANNESBURG, South Africa — Frank De Bleeckere of Belgium will referee the United States versus Algeria Group C match after being appointed to his second group match at the 2010 World Cup.

The officials for matches 33-40 were announced Monday, with two referees appointed to their third matches. The assignments for the remaining eight group matches will be released later in the week. The pool of referees will be reduced from the existing 30 after the round of 16 knockout matches are played.

Uzbekistan’s Ravshan Irmatov will handle Greece versus Argentina after taking charge of the opening match between South Africa and Mexico and controlling England’s match against Algeria.

Uruguay’s Jorge Larrionda, who booked Cristiano Ronaldo in Portugal’s opening match against Ivory Coast and also handled the Cameroon-Denmark match, will referee the Group D match between Australia and Serbia. Australia, which must win to have any chance of progressing, has had star players red carded in both of its group matches so far.

Elsewhere, Brazil’s Carlos Simon, who was in charge for England’s opening match against the United States, was assigned to Germany’s last group match against Ghana.

German referee Wolfgang Stark’s second match of the group stage will be England’s must-win match against Slovenia in Group C.
