MELBOURNE, Australia — Caroline Wozniacki and defending champion Novak Djokovic are the top-seeded players at the Australian Open.

Tournament organizers stuck to convention and based the seedings for the season’s first major on the current WTA and ATP rankings.

Djokovic is followed in the men’s draw by Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Milos Raonic of Thornhill, Ont., will be the No. 23 seed. He picked up his second career ATP victory over the weekend at the Chennai Open.

Of the top 32 men in the rankings, only Robin Soderling and Marin Cilic are absent.

Petra Kvitova can move from No. 2 to No. 1 in the rankings by winning the Sydney International. Nine of the top 10 women — including Wozniacki — are playing at the warmup event.

The Sydney International results won’t change the Australian Open seedings.

The top 32 women in the rankings have entered the Melbourne draw.
