"I’ve won a few matches from match points down but I’ve never won a final like this," Kanepi said. "I’ll remember this final in a good way for a long time."
The title was Kanepi’s third of her career, while Suarez Navarro fell to 0-3 in finals.
Defending champion Juan del Potro of Argentina beat third-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka in straight sets and will meet Richard Gasquet in the men’s final on Sunday.
Del Potro didn’t surrender a break-point chance in winning 7-6 (2), 6-4.
The second-seeded Gasquet of France had to rally from a set down to outlast Albert Ramos 2-6, 7-6 (1), 7-5 in the first men’s semifinal.
The Spaniard dominated early with an almost flawless ground game until his strength waned and Gasquet surged back.
Gasquet looked finished when he slammed his racket into the ground after losing a point at the start of the second set. But Ramos dropped his next service game with three straight errors to give Gasquet some hope.
Gasquet didn’t waste the chance and drew even at one set each before finally finishing off the fourth-seeded Ramos in just over three hours when his return sailed wide.
It will be Gasquet’s first final since July 2010.
