QUEBEC — France’s Oceane Dodin advanced to the first WTA semifinal of her career on Friday by downing Belgium’s Alison Van Uytvanck at the National Bank Cup.
Dodin, who is the highest-ranked player remaining in the field despite being No. 122 in the world, took the quarter-final match on Laval University’s indoor court in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
"I won my first match on the WTA Tour this week and now I have won three in a row, so I am very confident for the rest of the tournament," said Dodin, who is seeded 13th.
Dodin will face American Julia Boserup in Saturday’s semifinals.
Boserup, seeded 14th, topped fellow American Catherine Bellis 7-6 (0), 6-4 in the quarters.
Also, American qualifier Lauren Davis improved to 4-0 against Alla Kudryavtseva after defeating the Russian 6-3, 7-6 (4) in their quarter-final match. She will go up against fellow qualifier Tereza Matincova in the semis after the Czech beat American Jessica Pegula 6-3, 7-6 (7).
Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard, the top seed in the field of 32 players, was eliminated in second-round play by Kudryavtseva on Thursday.
