Italy, Russia to play Fed Cup final in Cagliari

PARIS — This year’s Fed Cup final between Italy and Russia will be played on clay in Cagliari, Sardinia.

The International Tennis Federation announced the venue Wednesday for the women’s team event.

The event will be played on Nov. 2-3 at the Tennis Club Cagliari, which has a seating capacity of 5,000.

Italy and Russia have won seven Fed Cup titles between them since 2000.

Italy won in 2006, 2009 and 2010, while Russia claimed the titles in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008.

Russia beat Italy 4-0 in the 2007 Fed Cup final in Moscow on a hard court.
