‘Joy unconfined’: Tsunami of patriotism online as Canada wins Davis Cup

After getting pummelled in qualifying and only being invited to the tournament to replace ejected Russia, Canada has shocked the tennis world by winning its first-ever Davis Cup.

Felix Auger-Aliassime and Dennis Shapovalov, ranked No. 6 and No. 18 in the world, respectively, were undeniable in the all-Commonwealth final, never dropping a set between them in a 2-0 win over Australia.

The two phenoms led the Canadian contingent, which had come second in 2019, through a gauntlet of Germany and Italy to reach the finals, with strong contributions in doubles play from Vasek Pospisil along the way.
