Another Canadian is headed to the Sofi Center.
Brooke Henderson will participate in the inaugural WTGL season, the new league announced on Monday.
Henderson will become the second Canadian to compete in the virtual golf dome after Corey Conners made his TGL debut as an alternate for Atlanta Drive in December.
The two-time major champion from Smiths Falls, Ont., was joined by world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul from Thailand, English star Charley Hull, New Zealand's three-time Olympic medallist Lydia Ko and American Lexi Thompson in the first wave of WTGL commitments.
Teams are yet to be determined.
“WTGL will be a global stage to showcase LPGA Tour stars, and this first wave of committed players represents that opportunity with some of the world’s best,” said Mike McCarley, founder and CEO of TMRW Sports in a statement.
WTGL, which was announced earlier in January, is set to launch next winter after the upcoming LPGA Tour season.
Teams will compete in a regular season and playoffs, similar to the TGL format. McCarley told Sports Business Journal that conversations with prospective ownership groups and commercial partners are already underway, while where the matches will air remains to be determined.
Franchises will have the same city or region base like TGL teams.
