Alexander Volkanovski has etched his name in UFC history.
The legendary fighter from the land down under beat the undefeated Movsar Evloev via technical knockout in the main event at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi on Saturday to defend his belt for a seventh time.
Though his record-tying seven title defences have come during two different reigns atop the featherweight ladder, Volkanovski's status as one of the greatest in the division is solidified, as it marks his ninth overall win in a championship bout at 145 pounds — the most all-time, surpassing Jose Aldo's eight.
Aldo is the only other featherweight fighter with as many defences, but all his wins came over a single reign atop the division.
With the win, Volkanovski's overall UFC record climbed to 29-5, and his latest run atop the division marks a stellar return to form after losing the belt to Ilia Topuria in 2024.
He managed to reclaim the belt in 2025 with a decision win over Diego Lopes, then beat the Brazilian again in a rematch in early 2026.
