After Belal Muhammed pulled out of the originally scheduled main event, two fighters are stepping up to headline UFC 310.
Flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja will take on debuting Kai Asakura in the main event on Dec. 7 in Las Vegas, UFC president Dana White announced on social media. The bout will take place at 125 pounds.
The five-round co-main event will feature two top contenders in Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ian Garry at welterweight. Rakmonov was originally slated to face Muhammed before the latter pulled out.
Pantoja, 34, last competed at UFC 301, where he earned a decision win against Steve Erceg. Pantoja is on a six-fight win streak in UFC, including three title-fight wins. He holds a 28-5 record since going going professional in MMA.
Asakura is making his debut in the UFC at flyweight, but made his professional debut in 2017 with the Rizin Fighting Federation in Japan. He is currently their champion at bantamweight and holds a 21-4 professional record. He will move down a weight class to take on Pantoja.
UFC 310 will take place Dec. 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The event will be available to purchase on Sportsnet+.
