Yet another Canadian has been added to the upcoming Edmonton Fight Night card.
Canada's Cody Chovancek is set to make his UFC debut in his home country when he takes on South Korea's SuYoung You on Oct. 17 on the UFC Fight Night: Buckley vs. Malott card at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
Chovancek, 28, enters the fight with an unblemished pro MMA record of 9-0, having cut his teeth in the 2025 edition of Dana White's Contender Series and winning his contract after knocking out the previously perfect Raphael Uchegbu back in September last year.
He hasn't entered the Octagon since that bout.
"The Best Fisherman in MMA" had previously fought in Unified MMA from 2023 to 2025, winning all four of his fights, and in the Canadian BTC Fight Promotions, where he also earned a 4-0 record from 2021 to 2022.
A native of London, Ont., and fighting out of Petrolia, Ont., Chovancek trains at Niagara Top Team alongside Canadian UFC stars like Malott and Jasmine Jasudavicius.
With Chovancek's addition, 12 Canadians will now fight on the Edmonton card — one for each fight announced.
This will be the fourth time Edmonton has hosted a UFC event.
The Edmonton event will also be the second Canadian card in 2026, following a Fight Night in Winnipeg in April.
