Demetrious Johnson will forever be an MMA icon, and the UFC made sure of it.
The promotion announced on Saturday that "Mighty Mouse" has been inducted into the modern wing of the UFC's Hall of Fame.
Johnson was the face of the banner's flyweight division for half a decade, and started his reign of dominance as the UFC's inaugural 125-pound champion.
After claiming the belt in Toronto at UFC 152, with a split-decision win against Joseph Benavidez in 2021, the now-39-year-old asserted his dominance over the division with a record 11 consecutive title defenses.
His run as champ didn't end until 2018, when Johnson lost a narrow split-decision against Henry Cejudo.
That would go down as the American's final UFC bout (and lone career loss at 125 pounds), as Johnson finished out his pro MMA career under the ONE Championship banner before officially retiring in 2024.
Johnson left the sport with a 25-4-1 overall record and a 15-2-1 record in the UFC. He still holds the UFC's record for longest reign as flyweight champion (2,142 days), and most title fight wins in division history (12), which is also third-most all-time among all weight classes.

- Recorded 1 of 3 performances in UFC history with 100 per cent takedown accuracy (min. 10 attempts)
- Highest significant strike accuracy percentage in UFC flyweight history (57.2 per cent)
- Highest significant strike defense percentage in UFC flyweight history (68.4 per cent)
- Tied for second-most wins in UFC flyweight history (13)
- Tied for second-most finished in UFC flyweight history (7)
The announcement was made during UFC Seattle on Saturday, with Johnson and his family in attendance — receiving a standing ovation from the crowd at Climate Pledge Arena.
