A former UFC security guard is proving he was well qualified for the job.
Sal Everett went from protecting people to competing for a contract on Dana White's Contender Series, where he knocked out his opponent, Ozzy Martin, on Tuesday night.
Both fighters were 4-0 in professional mixed martial arts entering the bout.
All four of Everett's pro fights were with the promotion Tuf-N-Uff. He won each of them in the first round, including a four-second knockout.
The 29-year-old left his career as a security guard for White to try to earn another job from the UFC boss, this time as a fighter. Everett took a big step towards that goal on Tuesday night.
