Raul Rosas Jr. won't be able to extend his four-bout win streak when the UFC sets up shop in San Antonio for Fight Night 259.
The promotion announced Wednesday that Rosas was removed from his bantamweight bout against Rob Font due to injury and will be replaced by David Martinez.
Rosas wrote on Instagram Monday that he injured his rib during training.
"As much as I wanted this fight to prove myself against the best in the world, won’t be able to make it. Injured my rib in training when I had someone on my back with a locked body triangle," Rosas said in the post. "I was trying to escape by spinning away and pulled it. I tried to push through it but didn’t heal & won’t fully heal in time. Barely starting to get back into normal training so hopefully I’ll be back soon. Can’t wait to be back and earn my spot again against a top 15."
Martinez, who was originally scheduled to face Quang Le on the card, will step in to face the No. 8-ranked contender in Font, who is riding a two-fight victory streak of his own. He most recently defeated Jean Matsumoto by split decision in February.
Martinez, meanwhile, has won his last eight MMA fights and has a 12-1 overall record. He scored a first-round knockout of Saimon Oliveira during his last appearance in the octagon at the Fight Night held in Mexico City back in March.
Le will now take on undefeated UFC newcomer Santiago Luna Velazco, who makes his debut with a 100 per cent finishing rate.
Noche UFC goes Sept. 13 from the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio with featherweight contender Diego Lopes and Jean Silva set as the main event.
