Dana White has made a change to the Nov. 7 Fight Night card.
Sean Brady has been removed from his UFC Vegas 124 main event bout against Gabriel Bonfim, and as a consequence, the fight has been cancelled, it was announced Friday.
According to the UFC, a bout between No. 6 heavyweight contender Waldo Cortes-Acosta and No. 12 Johnny Walker will now serve as the main event.
Brady said on a podcast earlier this week that he had come down with a staph infection.
“So last week, Tuesday, I practised in the morning,” Brady explained. “Everything was going completely fine. By nighttime, I was going to do my next workout. I jumped on my bike. My knee was a little bit swollen afterwards. By 9 o’clock at night, I couldn’t walk. So, that’s Tuesday. Wednesday morning, I already knew because I’ve been in this situation before, like I’ve dealt with bursitis and s--t, and I knew this wasn’t bursitis — I knew it was an infection."
The cancellation comes at an unfortunate time for Bonfim (20-1), as the rising Brazilian welterweight is on a five-fight win streak, including a unanimous decision win over former champ Belal Muhammad in June.
The fight against Brady — ranked No. 5 on the welterweight ladder — represented another step up in competition for the No. 8-ranked Bonfim.
Instead, Walker is set to make a quick turnaround, hoping to remain undefeated since moving up to heavyweight. His last fight — and his first in the weight class — came against Mick Parkin at UFC 332 on Oct. 3, when he earned a Performance of the Night bonus for his first-round knockout.
Cortes-Acosta, meanwhile, is on the back of a two-fight loss streak, dropping decisions to Curtis Blaydes in September and Alexander Volkov in May. This will be the 35-year-old's fourth fight of 2026.
