Alexander Volkov defeated Alistair Overeem in the main event of a UFC Fight Night card in Las Vegas over the weekend.
Volkov used patience and precision to pick apart Overeem and earn a second-round technical knockout for the 25th stoppage victory of his career.
The Russian, 32, leapfrogged the Dutchman, 40, on the UFC’s official rankings and now stands as the No. 5-ranked heavyweight behind champion Stipe Miocic and contenders Francis Ngannou, Curtis Blaydes, Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Derrick Lewis.
