Leon Edwards scored the majority decision victory over Kamaru Usman to successfully defend the UFC welterweight title at UFC 286.

It was a close decision for Edwards as the scorecards read 48-46, 48-46 and 47-47.

Edwards earned a big boost fighting in front of his hometown crowd at the O2 arena in London as he landed clear strikes and did his best to counter Usman’s strong showing. When Edwards was announced the winner of the fight, it sent the crowd into a frenzy.

With the win, Edwards is 2-1 in his three bouts against Usman although this one was not as dramatic as their last fight at UFC 278. Edwards found a way to pull off the victory knocking out Usman in the last minute of their welterweight title fight.

“London, you got yourself a hell of a guy, and a great champion,” Usman told Daniel Cormier after the fight.

In other fights at UFC 286, Justin Gaethje earned an entertaining win over Rafael Fiziev by majority decision. Both fighters showed off their power landing big punches and massive kicks to the body.

Gunnar Nelson used an armbar to finish off Bryan Berberena in the first round, Jennifer Maia defeated Casey O’Neill by unanimous decision while Marvin Vettori also beat Roman Dolidze by unanimous decision.
