WINDSOR, Ont. — Miah-Marie Langlois scored a game-high 30 points and the top-ranked Windsor Lancers booked their spot in the semifinals of the Canadian university women’s basketball championship with an 81-53 victory over the No. 8 Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday.

Langlois, a Windsor native who was named the CIS defensive player of the year for the third straight season on Thursday, shot a formidable 10 of 15 from the field. Korissa Williams picked up a game-best 10 rebounds and 10 points for a double-double to help the No. 1 Lancers extend their playoff winning streak to 13 games over the last three post-seasons.

"We have such a deep and experienced lineup, on any given night, someone can step up. I guess tonight it was my night," said Langlois. "We never take any game or any team for granted. But on the other hand, we’ve been there before. Myself, I’ve been doing this for five years. So in a sense, even though it’s the national championship, it’s just another basketball game."

The Lancers, who are seeking their fourth-straight title, move on to the national semifinals on Saturday afternoon where they will face either No. 5 Fraser Valley or No. 4 McGill.

The Golden Hawks are making their fourth overall appearance at the championships having played last at the 2011 event at the University of Windsor where they finished fifth overall. Laurier moves into the second consolation semi-final taking place at 12:00 p.m. Saturday.

Earlier, Angelina Carvery had a game-high 13 points as the second-seeded Saint Mary’s Huskies earned a 71-51 quarter-final win over the No. 7 Alberta Pandas.

Rachelle Coward added 12 points and freshman Emily Jameson scored 10 for Saint Mary’s, which improved to 30-0 this season.

Also, Kelsey Truslud poured in 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to propel the Saskatchewan Huskies to the semis with a 61-52 quarter-final victory over No. 6 Queen’s Gaels.

Kabree Howard added 12 points, while Dalyce Emmerson had 11 boards for the Huskies, who are making their sixth appearance in the championships.

Liz Boag scored 18 points to lead Queen’s, who is returning to the national spotlight after a 10-year absence.
